When the weather outside is too cold to
brave, and your warm blankets and super soft PJ’s are just too hard to change
out of, you know it’s Winter and it’s time to enjoy a hot chocolate.
This week we’ve put our taste buds into
overdrive to bring to you some very unique hot choc recipes!
Nutella Hot Chocolate
·
1 1/2 cups milk
·
1/3 cup Nutella
·
1 cinnamon stick
·
1 can of whipped cream or
marshmallows, to top
Method
1.
Place milk and cinnamon stick
in a small pot. Stir over a low heat and bring to a simmer.
2.
Add Nutella and stir until it melts
and the mixture is well combined.
3.
Ladle into mugs and serve with
fresh whipped cream or marshmallows.
Coconut Hot Chocolate |
Coconut Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
·
1 can full fat coconut milk
·
1 old coconut* to garnish.
·
2-3 tablespoons condensed milk
·
150g dark chocolate, finely
chopped.
·
2 tablespoons cocoa powder, plus
extra to dust
·
¼ tsp vanilla extract
Method
1.
Heat the coconut milk and
condensed milk in a pot over a medium heat until hot, but not boiling.
2.
Add the dark chocolate, cocoa
powder and vanilla extra, and stir until fully melted.
3.
Dust and serve
*Optional
Carefully break coconut open
with a hammer. Remove flesh with a spoon and carefully shred with a grater.
Sweet and Spicy Mayan Hot Chocolate |
Sweet and Spicy Mayan Hot Chocolate
INGREDIENTS

150g dark chocolate, finely
chopped
·
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
·
2 tablespoons sugar, or to
taste
·
⅜ teaspoon pure chili powder,
or to taste
·
1 ¾ cups whole milk
·
¼ cup thickened cream
·
1 cinnamon stick
·
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
·
Fresh Chilli
Method
1.
Place chocolate, sugar, cocoa,
and chili in pot. Melt over a low heat and whisk until ingredients blend.
2.
Slowly whisk in milk, then
cream. Add cinnamon stick and bring to a simmer.
3.
Remove pot from heat and steep
for 1 hour.
4.
Reheat to serve. Add vanilla to
taste.
